Surf Zone Forecast for Oahu
  • Hazards
HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR EAST FACING SHORES
  • Forecast
Surf along north facing shores will be 4 to 6 feet through Thursday. Surf along west facing shores will continue at 1 to 3 feet through Thursday. Surf along east facing shores will remain 5 to 8 feet through Thursday. Surf along south facing shores will be 2 feet or less through Thursday.
  • Outlook
Outlook through Tuesday Mar 16: choppy trade swell will gradually taper off along east facing shores over the next couple of days. A large northwest swell will arrive Sunday with advisory level surf into Monday. Surf heights are forecast heights of the face or front of waves. The surf forecast is based on the significant wave height, the average height of the one third largest waves, in the zone of maximum refraction. Some waves may be more than twice as high as the significant wave height. Expect to encounter rip currents in or near any surf zone.

Farmer's Market
Friday, 16 October 2009
If you haven't been yet then what are you waiting for?! the Farmers Markets at Kapiolani Community College on Saturday mornings and the one at the Blaisdell Center on Wednesday afternoon are officially where to get some good grub. Some of my favorite stuff to get: corn on the cob, sea asparagus, oat cakes, bale breads, and all the other locally grown veggies. I even found some farm fresh eggs last time. These markets have replaced my vegetable and fruit shipping at the stores and I am saving some money supporting local farmers, so check it out. Seriously good eats at farmers markets. There is also a smaller one on Thursday evening in Makiki.

Diamond Head Rules
Thursday, 13 March 2008
Just another day where diamond head was the default surf spot for the masses. Decent sized waves for the winter, a little wind as usual, and surprisingly crowded. I though everyone would be going the north shore.

go !@#$ yourself at Kaisers
Tuesday, 11 December 2007
Kaisers. the ultimate surf spot. all the groms, all of them in their early teens, probably home schooled. sure the wave is awesome, you can get tubed, the reef makes for a quick and spectacular right, and a decent enough left. but if you look like you do not belong prepare to be told so. these kids can be brutal with their mouths and do not expect the one adult in the crowd to do anything but laugh and give you stink eye. they may even grab your leash a little while you are taking off. but hey if you think you got skills, then go for it. nothing makes a better comeback then good surfing

South Shore Winter waves
Tuesday, 11 December 2007
sure, the waves are bigger on the north shore but don't let that stop you. there are still plenty of waves on the south shore and the tops spots remain consistent. Diamond Head is also a best choice for desperation waves, even though it may get a little crowded when town is small.
