Outlook through Tuesday Mar 23: our current north-northwest swell continues to slowly back down. Another increase is expected Thursday which will build overnight exceeding advisory levels by sunrise Friday. A longer period pulse fills in over the weekend. Plenty of solid overhead surf is on the way for north facing shores. Surf has the potential to exceed the 15 foot mark again next week.
Fresh but small southern hemisphere swell is impacting south facing shores this morning. This will provide some small surf over the next few days with some inconsistent sets reaching chest high for reefs that focus the swell best. Larger south swell begins filling in Friday night. Most south facing exposures will pull in chest to head high surf, with top areas focusing the swell best reaching overhead. A gradual decrease will follow during the first half of next week.
Surf heights are forecast heights of the face or front of waves. The surf forecast is based on the significant wave height, the average height of the one third largest waves, in the zone of maximum refraction. Some waves may be more than twice as high as the significant wave height. Expect to encounter rip currents in or near any surf zone.
